Advanced Materials
Relucent’s molding capabilities include proprietary processing capabilities of advanced materials. The parts that we produce demand performance in severe service environments including high temperature, chemical resistance, friction & wear and bio-compatibility. Applications include metal replacement for strength and stiffness, in the body medical devices, chemical resistance in oil/gas, food processing and and multiple industries seeking weight reduction.
PEEK (Polyetheretherketone)
- PEEK is one of the highest performing semi-crystalline thermoplastics on the market
- PEEK has a continuous use temperatures of 500°F/260°C
- Excellent performance in hydrocarbons and organic solvents
- High strength and stiffness and excellent long term creep and fatigue properties
- Radiolucent, Bone-like modulus, excellent sterilization performance
LONG GLASS FIBER (PEEK, PA6, PA6/6, PPS, PPA, PBT)
- Long Glass Fiber Thermoplastics (LGFT) are optimized for excellent strength, stiffness and toughness making them ideal candidates to replace metals at a fraction of the weight
- Long glass significantly improves impact strength without sacrificing flexural modulus
- These polymers yield a highly structural part due to the interlocking fiber scaffold that is produced in the molded component
- Long Glass offers base resin flexibility including PEEK, PA6, PA66, PPS, PPA and PBT

PPS – Polyphenylene Sulfide
- Maximum service temperature is 218 °C (424 °F). PPS has not been found to dissolve in any solvent at temperatures below approximately 200 °C (392 °F)
- PPS is thermally stable with long term resistance up to 200°C (392°F) and short-term resistance up to 260°C (500° F)
- PPS offers dimensional stability at elevated temperatures and in harsh chemical environments
- Chemical Resistance: Resistant to a wide variety of solvents and corrosive chemicals even at elevated temperatures
- PPS is inherently flame retardant (UL94 V-0)
